Maldives did not believe in India, 30 days and extended Emergency
Despite the appeal of India, the extension of the Emergency has been extended in the Maldives. The parliament of Maldives approved the recommendations of President Abdullah Yemen on Tuesday. After which the period of emergency applied in the country has increased by 30 days.
According to the Maldive Media, only 38 MPs were present for the voting. The voting took place before the end of the emergency period. According to the constitution, despite the need for 43 MPs to vote, only 38 MPs voted.
Emergency was imposed on 5th February
The Supreme Court of Maldives had banned the case on February 1 against former President Mohammed Nasheed. It also ordered the reinstatement of 9 opposition MPs. The current President Abdullah Yameen had refused to accept this decision of the court. After which he dissolved the parliament. After this, President Yameen had announced an emergency for 15 days on February 5, whose tenure was ending on Tuesday.
